VANRATH has been retained by a market leading manufacturing business located in Belfast to recruit a commercially astute Financial Controller/Company Secretary. Reporting to the Managing Director this is an exciting opportunity for an exceptional finance professional to join an established management team within a strong prosperous business.
The Financial Controller will will lead a team of two finance specialists, ensuring that all financial controls are in place to facilitate the continued growth and success of the business.
The main responsibilities are:
» supervise the accounts team and facilitate their continuing personal development.
» supervise preparation of the monthly management accounts and provide detailed insight to the MD of revenue, cost and margin trends. Submit monthly reporting packs to the Board.
» Information technology - supervise the Information technology function with support from external hardware/software support partners. Must have a high Information technology orientation and be able to help us increase Information technology efficiencies all over the company. Able to provide high level of internal Information technology support.
» Responsible for company MIS system – drive improvements in efficiency of company controls and procedures through efficient use of Information technology and reduction in data processing and storage duplications. Essentially manage the entire systems and processes side of the business.
» Legal – act as in house legal representative for contract preparation and review (with external legal advisors where necessary), able to progress legal matters on behalf of the company pragmatically and astutely.
» HR - supervise company HR function (with support from 3rd party employment solicitor where necessary). Must be able to implement HR strategy from company perspective in compliance with employment laws and ensuring controlled exposure for the company.
» Sit on all JV board meetings, review papers before and after for accuracy, be able to interact with partners in a way that builds relationship. Prepare/review board minutes for all Board meetings.
» Main point of contact for parent company providing all regular reports on a timely basis.
» Purchasing - be able to supervise administration of the purchasing function, ensuring major raw material imports transition in a timely manner from order placement to arrival on site (MD responsible for major raw material contracts)
» supervise Company Secretarial responsibilities, ensure accounts team submits all statutory reporting on a timely basis.
» Analysing and reporting on key financial data on a timely basis ensuring managers receive accurate and significant information.
» Preparation of annual budgets and rolling quarterly forecasts.
» Reporting and analysing working capital and cash flow. supervise the company FX hedging policy.
» Ensure compliance with VAT and Duty regulations including compliance with changes resulting from Brexit.
The Ideal Person:
The prosperous candidate will be a qualified accountant with strong commercial practice, and have at least 2 years practice in a senior finance position., ideally gained within a manufacturing environment. Good communication and people management expertise are essential as you will assume the day to day management of the finance team. The capability to inform and influence executive Board and key stakeholders coupled with a high degree of professional competence with exceptional attention to detail are essential.
