function PURPOSEThe Features Editor at Belfast Telegraph and the Sunday Life is part of INM's wider media management team and is responsible for ensuring all content produced is significant and written to INM's very high standards. The post holder is responsible for managing a team of senior journalists, reporters and freelance contributors. They plan, prepare, deliver and direct content for print publication across newspapers and magazines in line with deadlines and digital publication across seven days per week on Northern Ireland's primary digital news outlet. The function is mainly to supervise the department and ensure content delivery while also sourcing, writing, reporting, and sharing their own up-to-date, accurate and engaging stories through both digital & print platforms covering Features, Lifestyle and Entertainment.function RESPONSIBILITIES (Overview)
   » Generating features ideas across all publications and encouraging a creative, digital-first mind set among features staff
   » To supervise, create, write and edit up-to-date, accurate, balanced and engaging content
   » contact with significant Editors on everyday issues regarding content and analysis
   » Work closely with the Production Editor and others to ensure adherence to deadlines for digital and print
   » Manage resources and budgets effectively to ensure optimum performance
   » To react quickly, accurately and professionally to breaking news
   » To generate exclusive, shareable stories, reports, interviews and headlines, adopting best practices to maximise audience engagement
   » To use news judgement and data to curate and optimise stories for our digital platforms
   » To quickly and smoothly package stories on a broad variety of topics using a range of journalistic practices and tools
   » Deputise for Editors when required
   » Conduct investigations and campaigns as and when required
   » To be an ambassador for Belfast Telegraph/Sunday Life (and significant connected publications) at certain functions when directed
   » To adhere to the Editor's Code of Practice, INM's contractual obligations to IPSO and INM's internal ethics handbook
   » To provide support and guidance to their team in relation to all aspects of their functionspractice AND QUALIFICATIONS The prosperous candidate will have a proven track record as a media professional and leader and at least two years' practice as a senior editorial executive with a newspaper, magazine or media brand. They will have a good knowledge and knowledge of working in a digital-focused environment. They will also be competent in the use of online tools (polls, quizzes etc) to enhance and develop stories. An knowledge of analytics to help drive subscriptions is desirable. broad current affairs and public administration knowledge is vital. Apply Now
