Job Description


Position Reports to: Controller

Job Overview:
Under general direction from the Director of Accounting and Finance, the Staff Accountant supervises payroll administration and other general accounting responsibilities as assigned, including reconciliation of accounts, per diem invoices, etc. The Staff Accountant is responsible for monitoring all tasks necessary to accomplish the organization's payroll processing objectives, including relationships with external auditors and state and federal agencies. The majority of the employee's time is spent planning, coordinating and managing the functions of the payroll department. This position requires an extremely detail orientated person with significant knowledge of payroll administration, including state and federal regulations.

   » Process semi-monthly payroll using ADP software applications.
   » Compile internal management reports from the ADP payroll system software. Periodic preparation and reconciliation of payroll related reports which include, but may not be limited to, regularly scheduled Worker's Compensation Insurance self-invoicing, EDD and other governmental reporting, 401(K) reporting, income surveys, benefits reconciliations, and others, as well as special need reports.
   » Poll electronic time clocks and review the downloaded information for completeness and accuracy and follow-up on missing information.
   » Contact various department managers for any missed time punches or data. Ensure timesheet approvals.
   » Audit payroll and reconcile deduction accounts on a monthly basis.
   » Prepare various journal entries for timely month-end closing and recording to Yardi accounting system.
   » Prepare bank reconciliation for all SRO and Partnership bank accounts.
   » Serve as a backup to Accounts Payable, including invoice entry and check runs.
   » Handle and assist on per-diem billings and follow-up.

suitable education Bachelor's degree or life expertise in Accounting or related field; Payroll Certification a plus

practice : Requires 3-5 years recent payroll practice plus 2 years of accounting practice.

expertise:
Excellent communication expertise, written and verbal. capability to work under pressure.
Strong capability to develop and cultivate relationships and motivate others. capability to
coordinate a variety of tasks and assignments simultaneously and prosperously;
prioritize effectively; attentive to detail. Mathematical expertise: capability to add,
subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common
fractions, and decimals; capability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and
interpret various graphs such as bar, line and picture graphs. Computer expertise:
General computer and data systems knowledge and knowledge; this position
requires everyday use of a personal computer and requires entering, viewing and revising
text and graphics on the computer terminal as well as on paper; Knowledge of MS

Excel, MS Word, MS Outlook, ADP Workforce Now , and Yardi.
