Supplier Quality Engineer

What you will do

Reporting to the Managerof Supplier Quality for Power Solutions you will monitor,evaluate, selects and apply standard quality engineering principles andtechniques to assigned business problems. You will facilitate the deploymentand management of supplier metrics across the supply base, supports interactionwith suppliers to resolve issues, and performs supplier assessments. This position does require up to 50% travelwithin the US and Latin America.

Typical tasks to include:
   » Ensures suppliers meetISO9001/IATF16949 requirements. Develop suppliers to meet increasing qualityrequirements/expectations for JCI.
   » Prepares and maintainspolicies, procedures, and manuals for JCI Supplier Quality on the determinationof new supply sources, supplier quality relations, standardization ofmeasurements, and acceptable criteria of materials.
   » Conducts audits ofsuppliers' quality control systems, quality capabilities, processes, products, andfacilities, which may involve exposure to a variety of environmentalconditions. Determine adviscapability of changing or adding sources of supply.
   » Interfaces with plantpersonnel to resolve chronic or major supplier issues and verify that suppliersunderstand process/product requirements.
   » Manages projects. SupportProduct Launch System (PLUS) programs: Supplier Advanced Quality Planning(AQP), Supplier Process Sign-off (PSO), among others.
   » Reviews engineeringspecifications and drawings to determine suppliers' abilities to meetparameters and reviews new and modified product designs from a materialstandpoint advising modifications when necessary.
   » Administers DivisionSupplier Performance programs for critical material and all nonconformingmaterial. Monitors suppliers' corrective action plans and tracks supplierppm's.
   » Assists Purchasing andEngineering to resolve Supplier Review and Acceptance issues.
   » Reviews and approves SupplierPPAP's; Review and audit the deliverables including: Control Plans, Capcapabilityplans, Capcapability Studies, Part layouts, Gage design, Gage R&R, PFMEA,DFMEA; and supports or leads project management efforts regarding supplierchanges.
   » Involve vendors, internalresources, plant personnel to drive containment and closed-loop closure tosignificant quality issues. Ensure that Supplier quality issuesare resolved using an appropriate problem solving methodology. Report onthe status of 8Ds and ensure proper containment actions are taken.
   » Provide leadership abilities on-siteat vendor locations to drive team efforts and activities.
   » Drive/lead internalresources and plant personnel to drive and track effective and true measurementof 'supplier ppm.
   » Facilitate ManagementQuality Reviews with suppliers who do not meet quality objectives orexpectations.

Job Requirements

What we look for

   » Bachelor's Degree inengineering or related field required
   » 5+ years of practice inQuality Engineering or working with Quality Systems required
   » Previous practice with ISO 9001/TS16949 or VDA Quality Systems, required.
   » practice in Advanced Quality Planningincluding familiarity with the AIAG Advanced Quality Planning and Control Plan,FMEAs, PPAPs, MSA and Statistical Process Control (SPC) standards
   » IATF Certification a plus
   » CQE certification preferred
   » Six Sigma Black Beltpreferred
   » Previous practice with the following commodities preferred:polyinjection, chemicals and alloys
   » Strong self-motivation andcommunication expertise
   » Strong commitment tocustomer satisfaction
   » capability to think outside thebox and suggest/implement continuous improvement ideas
   » Stronganalytical thinking
   » Goodlevel of inter-personal relationships.
   » capabilityto communicate with all levels of the organization
   » Spanishlanguage expertise highly desirable
   » capabilityto travel up to 50% required
