BROTHERS OF CHARITY SERVICES IRELAND - SOUTHERN REGION
The Brothers of Charity Services Ireland - Southern Region is a major voluntary organisation, which provides age related residential, educational and day services for people with intellectual disabilities, autism and communication disorders all over the Cork and Kerry area.

ACCOUNTS PAYABLE agent (Clerical Grade IV)

Permanent Part-Time (0.8 wte - 29.6 hours per week)

The function
This key function has responsibility for the Service's accounts payable system and is a critical member of the team with accountcapability for the integrity of accounting systems and procedures. The Accounts Payable agent will support the day to day management of Service's Accounts Payable system, including compliance with payment/purchasing/delegation policy, and provision of training and support when required.
Candidates will have a strong customer focus and knowledge of the critical nature of systems administration, together with high level communication and negotiation expertise.
Candidates will have a sound knowledge and practice in operations, maintenance and development of accounts payable, together with practice of working in a prosperous accounts team.

   » Eligible candidates will be those who on the closing date for the competition:-
   » Have satisfactory practice as a Clerical agent in the Brothers of Charity, HSE, TUSLA, other statutory health agencies, or a body which provides services on behalf of the HSE under Section 38 of the Health Act 2004 OR
   » Have obtained a pass (Grade D) in at least five subjects from the approved list of subjects in the Department of Education Leaving Certificate Examination, including Mathematics and English or Irish¹. Candidates should have obtained at least Grade C on higher level papers in three subjects in that examination OR
   » Have completed a significant examination at a comparable standard in any equivalent examination in another jurisdiction. OR
   » Hold a comparable and significant third level qualification of at least level 6 on the National Qualifications Framework maintained by Qualifications and Quality Ireland, (QQI)
Note¹
Candidates must achieve a pass in Ordinary or Higher level papers. A pass in a foundation level paper is not acceptable. Candidates must have achieved these grades on the Leaving Certificate Established programme or the Leaving Certificate Vocational Programme
The Leaving Certificate Applied Programme does not fulfil the eligibility criteria

AND
2) Candidates must possess the requisite knowledge and capability, including a high standard of suitcapability, for the proper discharge of the office.
3) Candidates must have 5 years post qualification practice working in an Accounts Payable function with responsibility in the core accounts functions of Accounts payable and receivable.
4) Candidates must have practical knowledge of good accounting practices and procedures and the capability to review internal controls and recommend changes as appropriate. Understands budgets general/nominal ledgers and the importance of control accounts. Be proficient in the use of packages such as spreadsheets.
5) Previous practice of working within the Medical/Health Service would be desirable.
6) Knowledge of payroll would be desirable
2. Age
Age restriction shall only apply to a candidate where s/he is not classified as a new entrant (within the meaning of the Public Service Superannuation (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act, 2004). A candidate who is not classified as a new entrant must be under 65 years of age on the first day of the month in which the latest date for receiving completed application forms for the office occurs.
3. Health
Candidates for and any person holding the office must be fully competent and capable of undertaking the tasks attached to the office and be in a state of health such as would indicate a reasonable prospect to render regular and efficient service.

Candidates for and any person holding the office must be of good character
5. Candidates must have a full driving licence which qualifies you to drive on Irish roads with means of transport

income Scale: €26,752 - €43,891 (1/4/17) Pro-rata for part-time hours
