The Brothers of Charity Services Ireland Southern Region have a vacancy for a permanent part-time Senior Clinical / Counselling Psychologist in its Adult Services

The Brothers of Charity Services Ireland - Southern Region is a major voluntary organisation, which provides age related residential, educational and day services for people with intellectual disabilities, autism and communication disorders all over the Cork and Kerry area.

The function
This provides an opportunity to play a dynamic and central function in the provision of services to adults with intellectual discapability at an exciting time of transition and development within our adult services. There is significant scope to develop these functions in planning and delivery of an effective psychological service. Specialisms will be encouraged. Opportunities are also available for research, individual and peer supervision and CPD.
The prosperous candidate will work as a highly valued member of multi-disciplinary teams in the context of a large well supported Psychology Department. Services are provided in both centre located and community settings.
   »Professional Qualifications, practice, etc
   »Eligible candidates will be those who on the closing date for the competition:
   » candidates must have a recognised university degree or diploma (QQI level 8 equivalent) obtained with 1st or 2nd class honours in which Psychology was taken as a major subject and honours obtained in that subject AND a recognised post-graduate professional qualification in clinical or educational psychology or an equivalent qualification validated by the Department of Health. AND
   » candidates must have at least five years satisfactory post-graduate practice in the area of professional psychology, no more than three years of which was spent in gaining the post-graduate professional qualification and no less than two years full-time spent in post qualification practice as a professional psychologist. Years in excess of the permitted three years for completion of the post-graduate training or time not worked will not be taken into consideration when assessing the five years practice requirement AND
   » candidates with a Clinical / Counselling psychology qualification must demonstrate that they have acquired in appropriate health settings, for the areas for which they wish to apply - Discapability (Child and Adult), Child Psychology, Adult Psychology either at least 60 days or equivalent supervised clinical placements as part of the professional qualification or at least 60 days or equivalent post qualification supervised work practice as a psychologist.
   » candidates must possess the requisite expertise and capability, including a high standard of suitcapability and capability), for the proper discharge of the office.
The above eligibility criteria apply without prejudice to candidates employed in a post of Psychologist or above in the Irish public health service at October 2002.
Note: Combinations of supervised clinical placement practice as part of the qualification and post qualification supervised work practice within a single care group area to give a total of 60 days are not acceptable.
2. Age
Age restrictions shall only apply to a candidate where he/she is not classified as a new entrant (within the meaning of the Public Service Superannuation (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act, 2004). A candidate who is not classified as a new entrant must be under 65 years of age on the first day of the month in which the latest date for receiving completed application forms for the office occurs.
3. Health
Candidates for and any person holding the office must be fully competent and capable of undertaking the tasks attached to the office and be in a state of health such as would indicate a reasonable prospect of capability to render regular and efficient service
4. Character
Candidates for and any person holding the office must be of good character.
5. practice
Candidates must have practice of working as a Psychologist with adults with Intellectual Discapability / Autism Spectrum Disorder
6. Driving Licence
Candidates must have a full driving licence and means of transport which qualifies you to drive on Irish roads.

income Scale: €76,189 - €88,983 including 2 LSI's (1/4/17 - LRA) Pro-rata to a full-time post
