Operations Manager
Under the direction of the Site Director, the Operations Manager is responsible for the planning, organisation, directing and control of activities of the manufacturing value streams with managery responsibilities for both hourly and salaried employees. The Operations Manager will direct and coordinate production functions including safety, quality, service, engineering, training and development, performance management, employee relations, product cost improvement, equipment maintenance and new production introduction by performing the tasks personally or through subordinates and ensuring strong follow-up and leadership abilities. As a leader you are expected to be a function model in exhibiting the behaviours and values of the company and fostering the development of others
   » leadership abilities of the Manufacturing team to ensure effectiveness in the delivery of site and department goals. Drive manufacturing strategy and ensure Information technology is aligned with overall plant strategy.
   » Drive Continuous Improvement philosophy and practices including but not limited to Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, TPM, SMED, 5S, and OEE all over the focus factory.
   » Enhance manufacturing efficiency and cost reduction through optimum utilization of resources and on-going evaluation and improvement of methods and systems.
   » Prepare and review department budgets and lead cost and efficiency improvement efforts with production as well as across the site as appropriate.
   » Direct work priorities and time-lines and allocate resources to assure overall goals and time-lines are met.
   » Develop direct reports, coach, mentor, and handle performance reviews. Identify and implement career development plans for staff.
   » Provide clear expectations, training and support to Focus Factory teams.
   » Responsible for leading and implementing effective Cost Reduction Programmes.
   » Maintain a high level accountcapability to self and department to achieve on time, on budget, and high quality work.
   » Partner with quality leadership abilities to ensure good quality and GMP practices and their implementation in manufacturing.
   » Keep abreast of industry best practices and market changes.
   » Partner with other plant leaders and collaborate to define and implement best practice initiatives.
   » Assist in the maintenance of a safe company culture by working within the company's environmental, health and safety guidelines at all times and reporting any equipment or process problems in line with plant escalation procedures.
   » Adhere to GMP located Quality Systems requirements for medical devices and medicinal product (e.g. MDD, EU GMP Guidelines Vol IV Part 1 for medicinal product, ISO 13485).
   » Carry out additional tasks as required.

suitable education
   » 3rd level qualification university in Business, Engineering or a related field with emphasis in management.
   » Six Sigma/Lean tools
   » Excel, Word, PowerPoint, PeopleSoft, BPCS an advantage
   » Masters Degree preferred.

   » 5+ years of practice in Manufacturing or related field; preferably in a GMP medical manufacturing environment
   » Management practice (either Production, Engineering, Quality, etc.)
