This is a unique opportunity for the right person to shape, create, build and grow MSD Biotech, Dublin. This person will inspire and attract the best and brightest team to work with them, playing a pivotal function in the manufacture of MSD?s biologics-located medicines, including in the area of immuno-oncology.

Dublin, Ireland has been chosen for MSD?s first ever Large-Scale Mammalian-located Drug Substance Facility. Construction on this exciting new facility will commence immediately and we require a leader to steer its entire development, guiding a highly-skilled team, with the mission and ambition to manufacturing breakthrough medicines from Ireland for patients around the world. This facility will be a significant supplier of drug substance for one of MSD?s key treatments and will also be critical in the future supply of new biotechnology products to our global network.

this function requires a seasoned leader with proven capabilities in Drug Substance Biotech end-to-end large-scale operations leadership abilities, talent acquisition, development of a high performance team and culture, and a proven track-record in delivering results in a world-class supply organisation to include new product introductions, continuous process improvement, and the flexibility to adapt to changing strategic requirements. The Site Lead will be comfortable collaborating with thought-leaders across the Global Biologics and Sterile Operations, delivering a plant for the future on time and designing their own future within MSD.

THE function

The Site Lead for MSD Biotech Dublin will be responsible for the development of this complex operation and will report to the Vice President of MSD?s Biologics Manufacturing Division and will be responsible for the oversight of three distinct phases on the programme:

BUILD: In collaboration with the existing capital business leader, the Site Lead will build the team of the future and supervise the completion, validation, and manufacturing commencement of the facility. The Site Lead will form impactful and trusted relations with key stakeholders including government, regulators and local officials.

As a talent magnet, the Site Lead will collaborate with HR and the Project leadership abilities Team to:
a) shape, create, build and grow the people capabilities of MSD Biotech Dublin, focused on attracting, growing and nurturing talent;
b) inspire and champion a high performance culture that drives employee behaviours rooted in trust, dignity and respect.
c) shape and instigate a strategy for start-up and overall operations roll-out with the support of the Global Biologics Sterile Operations team, the network teams to include analytical and product development plus quality and regulatory employees/teams.

The Site Lead will lead with energy and enthusiasm and will create a unique environment for the organisation to thrive and grow.

LAUNCH: The Site Lead will be responsible for ensuring prosperous technology transfer, product validation, start-up of operations, regulatory approvals, and prosperous product launches. The launch phase is aggressive, and operational excellence will be critical. all over this phase, the Site Lead will remain grounded in the project delivery, leveraging all resources and relationships, and capitalisation the foundations laid during the build phase.

OPERATIONALISE/EXECUTE: The Site Lead will lead the ramp-up and preparations for the introduction of new products. The Site Lead will be responsible for the overall management of the site, incorporating all functional areas Approx. 350 staff will be recruited for the site with up to 100 additional support service staff within 2 years of operation.
