The Powergen business manages and operates Bord na Móna's existing power generation assets, which include the Edenderry peat/biomass generating unit, the Cushaling peaking plant, the Bellacorick, Mountlucas and Bruckana wind farms and the Drehid Landfill gas facility. The business also has a number of developmental projects at different stages of maturity that will add substantially to Bord na Móna's electricity generating capacity over the next decade.
The Function:
Our Powergen Operations Business Unit currently wish to recruit a Community Liaison. this function will report to the Communications, Advocacy & Stakeholder Manager.
The main tasks and responsibilities of the function will include the following;
   » To support the Communications, Advocacy and Stakeholder Management aspect of the Powergen Development programme in support of the development of renewable energy projects.
   » Meet and engage with significant individuals and communities on a proactive and reactive basis all over the project development period (i.e. from pre-planning through to Commercial Operation Date).
   » Act as the front line of engagement by (a) introducing the project; (b) acknowledging and recording on Sharepoint queries/concerns/issues; (c) following up with answers and responses (d) facilitating ad hoc meetings of project staff with significant groups or individuals; (e)generally ensuring compliance with Code of Practice for wind farm development and the Lobbying Act; (f) distribution of project newsletter; (g) introducing and following up on Community Gain and Near-Neighbour schemes where significant.
   » Support the organisation of and participate in public consultation events, public clinics, community engagement fora, project information office, Meet-the-Buyer events and ad hoc community events.
   » Support the advocacy programme for example by organising site visits for significant groups or individuals. Support community energy outreach.
   » Provide significant reports to Line Manager; Supply significant information for regular updates of Project websites; Participate in internal project specific communications meetings; support project development as required e.g. ground-truth all sensitive receptors within a defined radius of project.
   » All employees are expected to co-operate fully with all provisions taken by the company for ensuring Health and Safety, and Welfare of co-employees and members of the public using the premises
The Person:
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualification, expertise, expertise and attributes:
   » broad expertise of the Company;
   » Agricultural background desirable but not essential;
   » Excellent communication, interpersonal and relationship building expertise essential;
   » capability to work within a collaborative team environment;
   » Flexibility in terms of availcapability for community engagement outside of normal hours;
   » Basic report-writing capability;
   » Microsoft office and PC literate;
   » Proficient in the English language is a requirement, alongside eligibility to work in Ireland.
