Our client, a leading agri-food company, are currently recruiting for a Food Analytical Laboratory Manager.
function Overview:
The Food Analytical Laboratory Manager will:
   » Manage the routine day to day operations of the Food Analytical Laboratory in terms of incoming samples and final release of finished reports
   » Manage the laboratory budget and strategic planning of resources (personnel and equipment)
   » Support the development and implementation of new test methods required by the business
   » Supervise and support method qualification/ validation activities within the laboratory
   » Work towards obtaining and maintaining ISO17025 accreditation
   » Implement processes and procedures to ensure on-time delivery of all testing in compliance with ISO17025, the significant regulatory guidelines/industry standards and the significant local and global safety guidelines
   » Investigate non-conformances
   » Manage INAB and customer audits in the laboratory
Contribute to the discussion of results generated with other members of the R&D team and other Departments (i.e. Technical, etc.)
function Deliverables:
   » Degree in Chemistry and a minimum of 2 years of significant professional practice in the industry, including full direct responsibility for a laboratory team
   » Strong practice in method development – in particular in the area of organic chemistry
   » practice in an ISO17025 accredited environment is a strong plus
   » practice in the area of analytical testing of environmental samples is a plus
 
Competencies to execute the Function:
   » Proven practice in obtaining/ maintaining accreditation
   » Proven practice in the capability to develop and validated analytical methods
   » practice in the prosperous management of an analytical team
   » practice in working in high- paced and accredited environments
   » capability to meet deadlines
practice and Qualifications
   » Possess a post-graduate degree in Food/ Analytical Chemistry or related science
   » A minimum of 2 years of significant professional practice in industry, including full direct responsibility for a laboratory team
   » practice in obtaining/ maintaining ISO17025 accreditation
   » Good knowledge on modern analytical laboratory techniques ( e.g. HLPC and spectroscopy)
   » practice in developing and validating organic chemistry methods (ICH, FDA, etc.)
   » practice in the area of analytical testing of environmental samples is a plus
 
Other Significant function Requirements:
   » Comfortable with analysis of data and reporting
   » Computer literacy is essential, including knowledge of reporting systems
   » Strong attention to detail
   » Good communication expertise and a team player
   » Appreciation for compliance and capability to achieve
   » Assertive and independent minded
   » Self-organized, reliable and results-oriented working style, strong communication, fluent in English
   » Familiarity with a Laboratory Information Management System (LIMs) would be useful
