Project Workers (1 Full Time, 1 Part-Time)


The School Completion Programme is a TUSLA initiative that aims to have a significant positive impact on levels of pupil retention in primary and post-primary schools. The appointed Project Workers will work with the project's in-school, out-of-school, after-school and holiday supports and programmes.
The desired impact of SCP is the retention of a young person to completion of the leaving certificate, equivalent qualification or appropriate level of educational attainment which enables them to transition into further education, training or employment.
The three core results of the School Completion Programme are;
   » Improved Attendance
   » Improved Retention
   » Improved Participation.

The prosperous applicant will have:

   » A recognised third level qualification in any of the following:
Youth/Community/Education/social sciences/Early years or related discipline.
   » A minimum of one year's paid or four year's voluntary practice of working with children and young people-at risk in a supportive environment.
   » Proficient at planning, implementing and evaluating programmes.
   » practice of working collaboratively with agencies.
   » Proficient Information technology expertise, report writing, data collection etc.
   » A strong knowledge of the principles of community development.
   » capability to communicate effectively and appropriately to children across the target group age range.
   » Communication and facilitation expertise/group work.
   » The capability to plan and deliver educational/developmental/recreational programmes to individuals and groups.
   » A full, clean driving licence and use of car.
These position are fixed term specific purpose contracts until August 31st 2018 subject to funding. Payment in conformity to Department of Children and Youth income scales.
